Pachamama Alliance seeks a motivated and creative Social Media Manager to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial for enhancing our brand awareness and engaging our community of constituents and donors through compelling social media campaigns and effective communication strategies. The ideal candidate will be skilled in crafting high-quality, consistent content, managing social media platforms, and performing light creative tasks.

About Pachamama Alliance

Pachamama Alliance is an established San Francisco-based non-profit organization with a mission to empower Indigenous people of the Amazon rainforest to preserve their lands and culture and, using insights gained from that work, to educate and inspire individuals everywhere to bring forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, socially just human presence on the planet.

For over 25 years, Pachamama Alliance has successfully raised awareness and built a global community. This role will be crucial in supporting the ongoing efforts and future initiatives of Pachamama Alliance, contributing significantly to our mission during this pivotal time in human history.

Key Responsibilities

  • Social Media Management:
    • Develop and maintain a social media calendar that aligns with our marketing objectives.
    • Regularly update social media channels with news, updates, and offerings to keep our audience engaged and informed.
    • Monitor social media performance and engage with followers to foster a positive community and support customer interactions.
    • Design and implement social media advertising campaigns that are optimized for engagement and conversion, tracking their effectiveness and ROI.
  • Content Creation:
    • Write, edit, and curate content to be shared across social media platforms and in our newsletters.
    • Ensure all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality, and tone of voice.
    • Collaborate across departments to promote key messages, co-promote with partners, and execute campaigns.
  • Newsletter Production:
    • Manage the process of gathering news.
    • Design and distribute regular newsletters that highlights organization news and offerings.
    • Manage subscriber lists, analyze engagement data, and make adjustments to improve reach and effectiveness.
  • Creative Tasks:
    • Create and edit social media videos and/or reels.
    • Create and edit images and graphics for social media posts, advertisements, and other marketing materials.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) managing social media platforms and content creation.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience with email automation tools (e.g., MailChimp, HubSpot preferred) and familiarity with CRM systems.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including CRM and content management systems (Hubspot preferred).
  • Experience with graphic design editing software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • A deep connection to the ethos of the Pachamama Alliance’s work.

Compensation and Benefits

This position is located in the Presidio neighborhood of San Francisco. Salary range is $80,000 - $95,000 depending on experience plus generous vacation (accrues 20 days annually in addition to holidays, starting the first year) and health and dental benefits.
